Maintain Insulation

The insulation system is one of the most important components of a generator. Insulation systems must be maintained through regular inspection and repair. Failure of the insulation system will almost certainly result in the failure of the generator. With VF maintenance planning, we can help to safeguard the insulation and also ensure that any potential problems are dealt with before they become catastrophic.

Robotic Generator Inspection System (RoGIS)


RoGIS from BRUSH allows engineers to carry out robotic inspection and testing without having to remove the rotor to carry out a full inspection. It is designed to fit gaps down to a minimum of 17mm in the critical area between the retaining ring and the core.

RoGIS is launched from a docking station on the retaining ring and travels the length of the stator core. It conducts an Electromagnetic Core Imperfection Detection (EL CID) test of the stator core at every slot position. It also carries out a tightness test on every wedge in every stator slot and can be adjusted by the operator to account for all slot lip depths to a maximum of 75mm.
RoGIS conducts a visual inspection of the stator and rotor via four cameras mounted on the unit. Looking forward along the air gap; looking radially inwards directly onto the rotor surface; and into the stator ventilation slots on the sides of the stator coil.

Condition monitoring

Condition monitoring gives you constant updates on your generator performance. BRUSH can offer condition monitoring packages to support maintenance schedules and ensure that machine availability and reliability is increased. Condition monitoring ensures that all performance characteristics are monitored and can be set up to alert you of any performance changes or problems. This makes sure that problems can be addressed immediately, in many cases avoiding catastrophic failure.
BRUSH offers several condition monitoring services, ranging from 24 hour monitoring to periodic condition assessment. Services can be set up to run remotely or through regular site visits.

Knowing your generator

Following our first service inspection (at your discounted VF rate), we will capture and store all the valuable information regarding the installation of your machine including the configuration and the interfaces. A history based evaluation will also take into consideration previous maintenance activities, run time data and general unit condition. The inspection will lead to customized maintenance schedules and recommended activities. All site inspections are conducted by highly qualified and experienced BRUSH engineers. The site inspection is the catalyst to improved generator reliability, availability and contingency management.

7 WEEK ROTORS AND 10 WEEK GENERATORS

If an emergency situation does arise resulting in a major loss of output capacity, we know that getting your machine back on line as soon as possible is critical.

Advanced Rotor Machining System

Our investment in the new BRUSH Advanced Rotor Machining System (ARMS) coupled with modern lean processes and ring fenced stock holding ensures that BRUSH can provide industry leading response times.
Replacement generators are designed and manufactured to the latest modern specification and as such will incorporate technical improvements whilst offering total compatibility to the machine it replaces.
BRUSH have created a limited number of slots within our overall production programme so that we can fast track production of a ‘standard’ unit to achieve the reduced lead time; 10 weeks for a generator and 7 weeks for a rotor. This is unsurpassed by any other generator OEM.
This service covers the most common generators manufactured by BRUSH and is subject to the eligibility of the units you operate, which will be confirmed following your first inspection.
For a planned replacement, BRUSH will work with you to ensure your specific requirements are fully met, including any customization incorporating any required upgrades, and which will be scheduled into our normal production programme in a timely manner.

Our field service engineers are renowned throughout the industry for their high level of skill and service. Our teams of highly qualified and experienced field service engineers operate out of our main service facilities in the USA, UK, Czech Republic and the Netherlands. Sales and technical support is further strengthened by our regional offices in Abu Dhabi, UAE and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Together these provide an interactive global sales support network for all our core products, providing a direct link between our clients and our service bases.
